After teasing “U Know Who U R” featuring fellow Washington, D.C. native Uptown XO earlier this year, D.O.E. C.I.G.A.P.O.M. and Drew Dave are poised are poised to invite the masses to take in their joint release, L.A.W.K.I., an acronym which stands of Life As We Know It. It is with D.O.E.'s passionate and gritty delivery supplanted by the lush soundscapes of producer Drew Dave (formerly known as Soulful!) that listeners are thrust into the D.O.E.'s life – as he lives it and knows it.

Produced entirely by Drew Dave, D.O.E.'s purpose on this record is to paint a no-frills picture using his upbringing in the tough Washington streets as the backdrop. Opening with “Intro,” the tone is set early on with D.O.E.'s straightforward raps and Drew Dave's bouncy track mesh perfectly. Following is “Youngblood,” with D.O.E. delivering cautionary bars to those of the younger generation.

“Going Home” serves as D.O.E.'s ode to Mississippi while “Doe's Experience” takes a biographical slant and serves as one of the project standout tracks. Other highlights, such as the aforementioned “U Know Who U R” and the yU-assisted “Indie Luv” bring together a cohesion between the rapper and producer that can only be explained as pure synergy.

Light on features but heavy on hard-hitting realness, D.O.E. C.I.G.A.P.O.M and Drew Dave aim to deliver on all fronts with L.A.W.K.I. If the current rap landscape lacks artists with authenticity and soul, L.A.W.K.I. will supply listeners with plenty of both.
